I feel sorry for anyone who happens to walk down the hall past my apartment tonight, for what they would hear through my door would be the hideous sound of my drunken voice singing along the "hi yi, ya yi yi yaw" part of Tom Waits "Reperbahn" at whatever volume, since I was listening through my headphones and have no idea how loud my voice actually is.
I should mention: tonight as I was driving down Burnside, a big yellow moon was just sitting there, next to Big Pink, the US Bancorp Tower. Just sitting there. It looked like it should drop off into the river, or maybe behind Mt. Hood if it was really that far away, but it didn't look like it had the stability to just sit there, a couple of feet away from Big Pink, looking down on me, making me smile at the shocking beauty that I'm glad I had the sense to catch. It should have tipped the whole damn thing over. The entire city. That moon was not where it should have been. It was causing a disruption, but before I knew it, it was high up in the sky and had become, smaller, whiter. It was only there, next to Big Pink, just for a minute. And just for me. To make me smile.
