orchestral saxophones

07.23.2002 - 3:32 p.m.

I was just listening to Good, the cd by Morphine, and it occurred to me that a bari sax played in the mid range has tonal qualities similar to a cello. Especially when several saxophones are playing in unison. Saxophones played properly can sound like an orchestra. Beautiful stuff.

You know, I often wish there was more Morphine music available and that Mark Sandman were still alive, yet it seems like I don't listen to Good or Like Swimming very often. Strange. Maybe I've been saving them for when I really feel like I need new Morphine, so this old stuff can come in there and fill the void. And today it is doing nicely.

I think I need a nap. I don't know if that will work out. Naps rarely seem to work out for me, but I'm tired, so let's see what happens why don't we?
